MG HS vs Haval H6 Which Chinese Premium SUV Has Better Resale

MG HS. Haval H6. Both Chinese. Both “premium” feel. Both came to Pakistan around 2020-2021. Now it’s 2026. 5-6 years have passed.

Some owners are happy. Some are stressed.

Ask about resale? Bhai, this topic is sensitive. Toyota-like resale? No. Kia Sportage-like? Also no . Not going to happen. But between these two, which one is better?

I did research. Read forums. Asked owners. Checked specs. Looked at prices.

Here is the truth. Ugly truth. Messy truth.

(Disclaimer: Bhai, I’m a driver. Not a car dealer. Resale depends on the market. 2026 prices. Things change. Do your own research.)

The Price Difference

First, understand the price.

MG HS. First generation (2020-2025) was PKR 7.199 million to 9.899 million . Used? 2021 model with 77,000 km: PKR 4.9-5.5 million. 2022 model: PKR 5.8-6.2 million.

Haval H6. Petrol variants PKR 9.099 million to 10.4 million . HEV (hybrid) variant PKR 11.7 million . Used? 2021-2022 1.5T: PKR 6.5-7.5 million.

MG HS is cheaper used. Haval H6 is more expensive. Slight difference.

But bhai, both are around 10 million rupees. Resale difference? Slight. But neither is like Toyota.

Resale Value. Which One is Better?

This part is important.

The truth about MG HS.

One owner wrote on a forum. Direct words. “Car didn’t increase in value as much as other vehicles (Civic, Grande, Sportage, Tucson). Had I bought any other car when I bought my HS I would have gotten a better resale” .

Same owner said: “fuel at this price, its resale has become very slow, you can find a decent 2021 model MG HS for 62, when it was launched in 2021 it was also selling on own at 62” .

Bhai, PKR 6.2 million in 2021. PKR 6.2 million in 2024-2025. No profit. No loss. Just… stuck.

Why? Owner also explained. MG HS is first generation. Still in its first gen under SAIC . Local partner had issues too.

The case for Haval H6.

PakWheels blog wrote directly: “Resale confidence is still developing compared with Toyota and Kia” .

Developing. Means they are still building it. Not there yet. But compared to MG HS?

A forum user explained the difference. “The H6 on the other hand is in its 3rd generation and is one of the most popular vehicles under GWM which itself is the largest SUV manufacturer from China. It’s also sold in around 40 countries and so far has been well received everywhere” .

Resale Confidence Summary. Official PakWheels comparison table shows :

ModelResale ConfidenceBest For
Haval H6 HEVDevelopingHybrid performance, features
Kia SportageMedium to strongFamily crossover buyers
Toyota FortunerStrongResale, rough roads

MG HS is not even in that list. Haval is. That tells you something .

PakWheels advice for used H6 buyer: “Check hybrid system health, warranty coverage, software updates, service record, suspension, electronics, tyres, and parts support in your city” . Same applies to MG.

Verdict on Resale. Haval H6 has slightly better resale. MG HS slightly lower. Both are not Toyota. But both can be sold. It will take time. You will have to negotiate.

Fuel Average. How Much Does It Give?

Bhai, this part is important. For resale. And for your pocket. Petrol is PKR 280+ per liter.

MG HS 1.5L Petrol. One owner reported: “7-8 km/l in stop and go home to office commute” . Yes. 7-8. Official figure is 10-12 . Reality is lower.

Hi-octane requirement. Same owner wrote: “Hi octane requirement, I used to mix Hi octane with Normal but on fuel lid it was written 95 octane, so always there was a fear car might end up with problems” .

So MG HS needs expensive petrol. Use normal? Risk.

Haval H6 HEV (Hybrid). PakWheels blog reports: “around 15 to 18 km/L in real use” . Another source says: “Real-world Pakistani reviews often report around 18-20 km/L in city driving and around 15 km/L on highways” .

Bhai, 7-8 vs 15-18. Half the cost. Double the mileage.

One user summed up H6 HEV: “Hybrid system gives it a strong daily-driving advantage in stop-and-go traffic” .

HEV variant automatically switches to electric mode in traffic. Saves fuel.

Bottom line on fuel average. If fuel average matters, H6 HEV wins. MG HS petrol is thirsty. PHEV variant is better but more expensive .

Maintenance Cost. How Much Expense?

Bhai, this part makes owners cry. Both are expensive. Compared to Toyota. Compared to Honda.

MG HS Maintenance. No detailed breakdown available. But owner comment: “fuel at this price, its resale has become very slow” . Means owning the car is expensive. So people don’t want to buy used.

Haval H6 Maintenance. More detailed information.

One owner shared service costs :

  • 1st service (5,000 km): Oil + filter. Cost: PKR 10,000-11,000. Labor free.
  • 2nd service (10,000 km): Air filter PKR 11,000. AC filter PKR 4,000. Labor PKR 5,000. Total around PKR 20,000-25,000.

Owner wrote: “expect to get billed around 30k for your 10k km inspection which is a RIPOFF” . Strong words. But true.

Every 5,000 km: PKR 10,000-15,000.

Every 10,000 km: PKR 20,000-30,000.

Annual cost (20,000 km): PKR 40,000-60,000.

So. Both are expensive. MG slightly cheaper in service? Slightly. But Haval HEV saves fuel.

Passenger Stories. Real Experiences.

MG HS Owner. 2021 model. 40,000 km.

“Bhai, gaari achi hai. Comfortable hai. Features hain. Lekin fuel itna leti hai ke ghar mein tension rehti hai. Resale bhi achi nahi hai. Ab bechna chahta hoon. Time lag raha hai buyer dhundhne mein.”

Haval H6 HEV Owner. 2023 model. 25,000 km.

“Bhai, hybrid hai. Fuel 18 deti hai city mein. Resale ke baare mein abhi pata nahi. Gaari nayi hai. Lekin jo log pooch rahe hain, wo hybrid ka dar hai. Battery change karna pare ga? Kitne ka pare ga?”

Mechanic in Rawalpindi.

“Bhai, dono aati hain workshop mein. MG HS ka fuel system issue hai. Haval H6 hybrid mein electronics complex hai. Local mechanic nahi samajhta. Dealership pe jao. Woh bhi time lete hain.”

The Verdict. Which One Has Better Resale?

Bhai, after all this research. Here is my honest take.

Haval H6 has slightly better resale. Slightly.

Why?

  1. Global presence. H6 is 3rd generation. GWM is China’s largest SUV maker. H6 sold in 40 countries . MG HS is first generation. Global footprint smaller.
  2. Hybrid advantage. H6 HEV fuel average is 15-18. MG HS petrol is 7-8. Buyers want fuel efficiency in 2026. Petrol is expensive. So H6 HEV is more desirable.
  3. Market recognition. PakWheels puts Haval H6 in resale discussions. MG HS is not even mentioned . That means dealers recognize Haval. MG? Still building trust.
  4. Newer platform. H6 is 3rd gen. MG HS is still 1st gen . Newer is better for buyers.

However. Both resale values are not like Toyota. Not like Kia. Expect depreciation.

MG HS 2021 example. Owner trying to sell for PKR 4.9-5.5 million. Original price PKR 7.2 million . Depreciation PKR 1.7-2.3 million in 4 years. That is 25-30% loss.

Haval H6 2021-2022 example. Similar depreciation expected. Maybe slightly less.

Buy Haval H6 if:

  • You want better fuel average (HEV variant)
  • You want slightly better resale
  • You want 3rd generation global platform
  • You have budget for hybrid

Buy MG HS if:

  • You find a good used deal (PKR 4.5-5.5 million)
  • You don’t drive daily (fuel average not a big issue)
  • You want a cheaper entry into “premium” Chinese SUV
  • You plan to keep car for 5+ years (resale not a concern)

My honest driver opinion.

Bhai. If you have PKR 6.5-7.5 million, buy Haval H6 used. Especially HEV. Fuel will save you money. Resale will be slightly better. Not Toyota level. But better than MG.

If you have PKR 4.5-5.5 million, buy MG HS used. It’s cheaper. You get a decent car. But fuel will hurt. Resale will hurt more when you sell.

If you want peace of mind? Buy a used Kia Sportage. Or a Toyota Corolla. Or a Honda Civic. Pay more. Cry less.

One owner summed it up: “Had I bought any other car when I bought my HS I would have gotten a better resale” .

That’s the truth.

Bookmark this page. When you go to look at an MG HS or Haval H6, check the hybrid battery health (for H6), check service records, check fuel average on the display, check for any error lights. Take a mechanic who knows Chinese cars. Then decide.

Allah hafiz.

P.S. — Own an MG HS or Haval H6? Share your resale experience. Maintenance costs. WhatsApp me. I will add to this guide.

P.P.S. — Not a mechanic. Not a dealer. Chinese premium SUVs are improving. But resale is not like Japanese. Apna wallet dekho. Phir faisla karo. Aur hybrid lena hai toh HEV lo. Petrol wali mat lo. Pachtana pare ga.
