How Much House Electricians Really Charge in Rawalpindi (Full Price Breakdown from Real Jobs)

(Look bhai, main driver hoon. Not an electrician. Not a contractor. These prices are from jobs I saw, paid for, or passengers told me about—January to April 2026. Prices change. Copper rates change. Labour rates change. This is guidance, not a government rate list. Get a written quote before work starts. And don’t blame me if someone overcharges you. Main sirf sun raha hoon.)

So.

Last month my own house dimmer switch stopped working. I-14. Phase 2. The one in the drawing room that makes the light romantic. My wife said “theek karwa lo.” I called a number saved in my phone as “Electrician Shakeel – G-9”.

He came. Looked at the switch. Touched it twice. Then said: “Bhai, yeh pura board change karna pare ga. 2,500 rupay.”

I said: “Itna? Sirf aik switch kharab hai.”

He said: “Wiring bhi purani hai. Safety issue.”

I’m not electrician. But I know when I’m being taken for a ride. So I thanked him, gave him 200 rupees chai paani, and called another guy—someone my passenger recommended from Khayaban-e-Sir Syed.

Next day. Young guy. 25 maybe. Tools in small shoulder bag. He removed the switch. Replaced with new one from his bag. Same brand. Took 12 minutes. Then said: “600 rupay, bhai. Switch aur labour mila ke.”

I gave him 700. He smiled.

So yaar, electricians in Rawalpindi charge whatever they feel you can pay. No fixed rate. Nothing written. If you look confused, you pay more. If you look like you’ll call someone else, price drops. It’s a whole theatre. Phir I started asking around—passengers, chai walas, neighbours. Here is what I found. Messy. Real. But helpful.

Quick Answer Section (If You’re in a Hurry)
If you’re scrolling fast and just want rough idea, here it is. These are common jobs in a normal Rawalpindi house, labour charge only unless I say with material:

  • Inspection / visit fee: 200–500 (refundable if work done, sometimes not)
  • Replace switch / socket (simple): 300–600 (labour + cheap switch)
  • Replace dimmer or fancy switch: 600–1,200
  • Install new ceiling fan (existing point): 800–1,500
  • Install bracket fan with wiring from scratch: 2,000–3,500
  • Replace MCB / fuse: 300–500 (labour only)
  • Fixing loose wiring in one room: 1,000–2,500
  • Full room rewiring (new wires, conduits): 3,000–8,000 (depends on room size)
  • Full house basic wiring check + small fixes: 2,500–5,000
  • Full house major rewiring (5–10 marla): 15,000–40,000 labour only, material extra

Now details. Because “wiring cost Rawalpindi” varies like the weather.

Real Price Breakdown (From Jobs I Saw or Paid For)

Basic Visit / Inspection
Electrician comes, sees the problem, tells you “kya hua”. Some charge 200–300 for this. Some charge 500 if they come from far away (like from Saddar to Bahria Town). If they come at night, double. I called one guy at 9 PM once—he asked 800 just to come. I said “subha aa jao.”

So. Inspection fee: 200–500 normal time. 800+ late night. Always ask phone pe: “Bhai, aane ke kitne paise?” Otherwise they reach and demand.

Small Jobs (Switch, Socket, Fan Install)
These are the ones you face most. Switch broken. Socket loose. Fan speed slow. Plug sparking.

Switch change with simple crappy switch: labour 200–300 + switch (local 80–100, good quality 250–400). So total 400–700. If you provide switch, labour 300. If they bring, they add little margin. One electrician in Tench Bhatta charged me 300 labour + 100 switch = 400 for bedroom switch. Good enough.

Socket install from scratch (with drilling and tapping from nearby point): 800–1,200 including new socket face. One passenger said his socket for AC was installed for 1,000 in Peshawar Road flat.

Fan installation (ceiling fan, existing rod/hook): 800–1,500 labour only. Some charge 1,000 flat. Some try 2,000 if they see house is big and you’re in a hurry. One electrician told me “bhai, fan install karne mein bohot time lagta hai, balancing karni parti.” Then he did it in 25 minutes. So ya.

Medium Jobs (Wiring Fixes, Circuit Breaker, Small Rewiring)
Loose wiring causing half room blackout—one guy fixed in 40 minutes, traced loose wire in junction box, charged 1,500. Another charged 3,000 for same job because he said “pura connection dubara karna para.” So get second opinion. Phir I learned: always ask “kya actual problem hai” before they open anything.

MCB trip: maybe 300–500 to replace. But if they start checking full distribution box, they may quote 2,000 for “phase balancing” or some thing. Listen, if your lights are flickering, it might be loose neutral at main. That’s 30-minute job and should cost 1,500 max. But some charge 5,000 saying “meter mein fault hai.” I saw one passenger pay that. Later another electrician said “200 ka kam tha.”

Full Room Wiring
Small room (10×10). New conduits, new pipes, 2 switches, 2 sockets, fan point, light point. Labour about 3,000–4,500. Material (wires, pipes, boxes) separate, maybe 4,000–6,000. So total 7,000–10,500. One passenger getting room built in his house in Dhoke Kala Khan paid 8,500 all inclusive for labour and wiring material—but he bought switches himself.

Full 5 marla house complete rewiring with good quality copper wire, new breaker box, earthing: labour around 20,000–30,000. Material maybe 30,000–50,000. Total 50–80k. But that’s big job. Not under 50k.

Electrician Charges Rawalpindi: Price Range Quick Matrix
Here’s a messy table from my head:

Power plug replace | 200–400 | Yes
Dimmer install | 400–600 | Yes (600–1,200)
Fan install (existing point) | 800–1,500 | No, if fan you have
Fan new point + wiring | 2,000–3,500 | Yes
MCB trip fix | 300–600 | Maybe
Loose wiring one room | 1,000–2,500 | Rare
Full room rewiring | 3,000–8,000 | Yes
House rewiring (5 marla) | 15,000–40,000 | Yes
Emergency night call | Double + | Depends

Why Prices Change So Much
You think there’s standard. No. Electrician charges Rawalpindi change on many things. I observed:

  • Location: If you’re in Bahria Town Phase 7 vs Dhoke Syedan, price auto different. Bahria walas quote 3,000 for same fan install that Tench Bhattawala does for 800. Why? “Bhai, aapka ghar bara hai.” Same logic, silly but real.
  • Timing: Day vs night. If you call after sunset, they think you’re desperate. Price x1.5 – x2. One passenger needed socket repair at 10 PM for heater. Guy charged 1,500. In morning it’s 400.
  • Urgency: If you say “abhi aao, bohot zaroori hai,” price jumps. If you say “kal aa jao, no rush,” normal.
  • Your face & house: This is true. If electrician sees nice car parked, big gate, AC running, price up. I know because I drive old Mehran, so they think I’m budget. My cousin has Civic, same electrician quoted 2x. So it’s not about the work, it’s about what they think you can pay.
  • Weather: Monsoon or peak summer, fan jobs hike. Because everyone’s fan breaks same time.

Real Observations (Stories I Collected)
Story 1: Two electricians, one switch. A passenger in G-8 Markaz had a broken switch near kitchen. First electrician said full kitchen wiring change, quote 6,000. She called second one via neighbour, he came, tightened the wire behind switch, charged 400. So house electrician cost Pakistan is not fixed, it’s market ka game.

Story 2: Night charger. My own mistake. I thought my main MCB was tripping dangerously. 11 PM. I called number from OLX. He came, checked with tester for 10 minutes, pulled out a burnt plug from geyser point. Then said “2,000.” I said “itna?” He said “bhai, raat hai, aap ne bulaya.” I paid 1,500 after arguing. Next day same work by my regular guy: 500. Lesson: don’t call after 10 PM unless house is on fire. Even then, ask price on call.

Story 3: The “earthing problem” drama. Passenger’s father. Paid 15,000 for house earthing. Electrician dug small hole, put rod, said done. Next year shocks again. Different electrician said “rod bas 1 foot deep tha, pura redo karna pare ga.” So half the time you pay for incomplete work. Wiring cost Rawalpindi me aur woh bhi fake job.

Hidden Charges (Aur Loot)
Yaar, these are things electricians don’t tell you before:

  • Visit fee not refundable: If you call and let them go without work, they still ask 500. So be clear upfront: “aake check karein, agar kaam hua to visit free.” Some agree.
  • Material markup: They buy switch for 200, tell you 400. So if possible, get material yourself from College Road or Gawal Mandi electric shops.
  • Extra labour for “difficulty”: If wiring is behind heavy furniture, they say “bohot mushkil hai” and add 500–1000. That’s fair maybe, but ask before they start.
  • Testing charges after repair: Some ask 200 extra for “checking wiring after job”. It’s nonsense.
  • “Warranty” talk: They say “6 months guarantee” but when problem comes, they don’t answer calls. So don’t pay extra for guarantee.

How to Find Electricians (And What to Ask)
Local approach better than Google. Google shows big service providers with fancy websites and high prices. Instead:

  • Ask neighbour, your milkman, barber, chai wala. Electrician charges Rawalpindi are known locally.
  • There are electrician markets: G-9 Karachi Company street has some electrical shops that recommend guys. Tench Bhatta has small names. Raja Bazar near Gawal Mandi has electricians sitting on corners with tools.
  • Facebook groups like “Rawalpindi Buy & Sell” sometimes have electricians posting. But verify.
  • Numbers from trusted people: I have a list now. I share with passengers sometimes.

Always ask: “Bhai, total kaam ka kitna hoga? Material included ya nahi? Visit charge koi?” Get answer before they come. If they dodge, don’t call.

Tips (Simple, Real, From My Pocket)
Tip 1: Always compare two. First electrician gives price, say “main aap ko batata hoon.” Call second. Then decide. Saving 1,000 rupees on fan install is common.

Tip 2: Buy your own material. Switches, sockets, wire: buy from trusted shop like PSO in College Road or friends in Gawal Mandi. You get genuine price and quality.

Tip 3: Don’t look desperate. Even if you’re sitting in dark, say “kal subha tak wait kar sakte hain.” They’ll give better price.

Tip 4: Written note? Big jobs like house rewiring, take picture of his ID card and write simple thing: “Kaam: full rewiring 5 marla, labour 25,000, material buyer dega, 10 din mein complete.” Both sign. Not legal paper, but holds some weight.

Tip 5: Check his work before paying. If socket fixed, test with your phone charger. If fan, let it run 10 minutes. If wiring, test all rooms.

Tip 6: Keep one regular electrician. Build relation. Give him small jobs. He won’t overcharge much. My guy Shakeel (the honest one) now charges me normal rates because I call him only and give chai.

FAQ (Real Passenger Questions)
Q: What is normal house electrician cost in Pakistan?
A: For small fixes, 300–1,000. For medium, 1,500–5,000. For big rewiring, 20,000+ for labour only.

Q: Electrician charges Rawalpindi vs Islamabad?
A: Rawalpindi slightly cheaper. Islamabad electrician quotes higher because area assumes “paisa hai.” But if you call electrician from Pindi to Islamabad, he’ll charge travel. So local is better.

Q: Can I get electrician for 200 rupees?
A: For 5 minute work like changing light bulb or screw tightening, if you know someone, 200 is possible. But normal visit now starts 300 minimum.

Q: Should I tip?
A: Not required but if he does extra small thing, yes, 100–200 makes him happy.

Q: Material ka kharcha kitna hota hai?
A: 1-coil wire (90 yards, good quality): 7,000–12,000. Switch (good brand, e.g., Clipsal): 400–600. Socket: 500–800. DB box: 3,000–8,000. It adds.

What I Think (My Driver’s Opinion)
Honestly, yaar.

Electricians in Rawalpindi are skilled, mostly. They fix problems. But the pricing is pure mood. Same job three different prices. It’s because there’s no regulation. And we are sometimes lazy to compare. I was same. But after these experiences and listening to passengers crying about “5,000 for mcb?” I learned to ask hard.

House electrician cost Pakistan is rising because copper price up, fuel up, so material up. Labour up. So even small job will go up. But still, you can avoid overpay.

If you call one person, let him come, get quote, give chai, let him leave. Call next. Good electricians don’t mind you comparing. They know their price is fair. The ones who get angry? Probably scammers.

Also, check earth leakage. Many old houses don’t have ELCB installed. That’s 2,500–4,000 extra but saves from shocks. Electrician might not suggest because it’s not his job. You mention.

Bookmark this. Share with friends. Whenever electrical fault comes, you’ll remember. And remember: switch off main breaker before touching anything. Stupid point, but I say because I once forgot and my finger tingled. Not fun.
