Toyota Corolla Altis Grande — The King of Resale. But Is It Worth the Premium

You see them everywhere. F-10 parking. I-8 Markaz. Srinagar Highway at 8 AM. That sleek shape. That sunroof. Those alloy wheels. The Grande.

People call it the King of Resale in Pakistan. And they are not wrong . You buy a Grande today. Drive it for 3 years. Sell it for almost the same price. Maybe 5-8 lakh loss. Not bad for a car that costs 80 lakh.

But bhai. 80 lakh. That is not small money. That is a house. That is a shop. That is your child’s university fees.

So the question: Is it worth it? Or are you paying for a badge?

I drive. I pick up passengers. I talk to mechanics. I have seen people happy with their Grande. And people who regret stretching their budget.

Here is the truth. Messy. Real. Unpolished.

*(Disclaimer: Bhai, main driver hoon. Car dealer nahi. Prices change. 2026 ki baat hai. New tax aa raha hai. Budget 2026-27 mein 6% Environmental Levy lage ga toh price aur barh jayegi . Apna wallet dekho. Phir faisla karo.)*

The Price. Bhai, kitne ka hai?

New Grande in 2026. Ex-factory price.

Altis Grande X CVT-i 1.8 Beige Interior: PKR 76,69,000
Altis Grande X CVT-i 1.8 Black Interior: PKR 77,09,000

But bhai, ex-factory is fantasy. On-road? Registration, token tax, dealer markup. In major cities, you are looking at 80-82 lakh . Yes. 8.2 million. For a Corolla.

And news is, Budget 2026-27 mein 6% Environmental Levy lag sakta hai. Grande Black Interior 8 crore ke upar chala jayega .

Used market? 2021 model with 84,000 km is selling for around 65-70 lakh . 4 saal purani. Still expensive.

So. Grande is not for the faint-hearted. Or the empty-pocketed.

What You Get for the Premium. The Features.

Why pay extra over regular Altis? Let me tell you.

Engine. 1.8L. 1798 cc. 138 horsepower. 173 Nm torque . Regular Altis has 1.6L or 1.3L. Grande has power. You press accelerator, gaari jaati hai. Overtaking easy. Motorway par maza.

One passenger said: “Bhai, 1.6 Altis aur Grande mein farq hai. Grande mein dum hai.”

Transmission. CVT-i with paddle shifters. You can manually shift gears. Paddle shifter on steering wheel. Feels sporty . Regular Altis doesn’t have this.

Sunroof. Bhai, sunroof. Status symbol. You open it, kids go crazy. Passengers look up. “Wah, kitna acha hai.”

Leather interior. Beige ya Black. Feels premium. Regular Altis has fabric seats.

Driver seat height adjustment. Small thing. But if you are tall or short, matters .

Rain-sensing wipers. Wipers start automatically when rain comes. Fancy.

Cruise control. For long drives. Set speed. Relax your foot .

Rear reading lamps. Passengers in back can read. Small luxury.

Wooden finish on dashboard. Not real wood. But looks classy.

One passenger summed up: “Bhai, Grande mein baitho toh alag feeling hai. Altis mein baitho toh… Corolla hai.”

The Missing Features. Kya Nahi Hai?

Bhai, 80 lakh ki gaari. Still missing things.

No rear AC vents. Yes. You read right. Civic mein hai. Elantra mein hai. Grande mein nahi.

One owner wrote: “Missing rear AC vents, rear sunroof and lane assist” .

Another said: “it doesn’t have rear ac vents but i think its ok because it has a very good front ac it cools the car in 2 minutes” .

So. Front AC is powerful. But rear passengers? Thoda patience.

No Android Auto / Apple CarPlay? Some owners complain the infotainment system is outdated. Android version old. Slow .

Only 2 airbags. In 2026. 80 lakh ki gaari. Only 2 airbags . Competitors offer more.

No rear camera in some models? Actually Grande has rear camera. But not 360 view. So.

One owner wrote: “Value to money to some extent. Very good performance of engine and exterior is stunning but interior is very compromised” .

So. Grande gives you engine and status. Not all features.

The Maintenance. Kitna Kharcha?

Bhai, Toyota hai. Parts everywhere. Mechanics know. So maintenance is not painful like German cars.

Oil change. Grande needs oil change every 5,000 km . 5W-30 or 10W-40. At dealership? 35,000-40,000 for oil + filters . Local workshop? 20,000-25,000.

One owner shared: “I’ve only done regular 5k maintenance (oil, oil filter, air filter, AC filter) and replaced the brake pads once” in 100,000 km . So. Reliable.

CVT transmission fluid. Change at 60,000-80,000 km. Fluid cost: 9,500 from wholesale. 12,000 local market. 20,000 at dealership .

Brake pads. 8,000-12,000 for set.

Suspension. One owner compared 2017 Grande and 2023 Grande. 2023 model had higher ground clearance. Better for Pakistani roads .

Fuel average. Owners report 8-10 km/l in city. 12-16 km/l on highway . One said: “Fuel average 12 km/L. Been happy overall with performance” . Another said: “8 to 10 in city but highway average 12 to 16” .

So. Not fuel efficient. But not terrible.

One owner put it simply: “second name of reliability that’s i prefer toyota, good exterior and main good thing is easily parts available in local market and very good price” .

That is the Grande advantage. You can find parts anywhere. Any mechanic can fix.

The Real Story. Passenger Opinions.

Passenger 1. Grande owner. 2022 model.

“Bhai, gaari achi hai. 2 saal ho gaye. Koi masla nahi aya. Sirf oil change karvaya aur brake pads. Resale ke liye li thi. Ab bechna chahta hoon. Pata hai? Koi loss nahi hoga.”

Passenger 2. Switched from Civic to Grande.

“Bhai, Civic mein AC evaporator kharab ho gaya tha. 65,000 lag gaye. Phir steering rack. Thak gaya. Grande le li. Boring hai lekin sukoon hai. Kuch nahi hota.”

Passenger 3. Regrets buying Grande.

“Bhai, price bohat zyada hai. 80 lakh. Is price mein Elantra milti hai. Civic milti hai. Features zyada hain un mein. Grande mein sirf engine acha hai aur resale. Baaki sab purana lagta hai.”

Passenger 4. Loves his Grande.

“Exterior of car is awesome. Pick up and engine performance is matchless. Most powerful than its competitors like honda. Ground clearance is good. Fuel average is very good. Suspension awesome. Price is on higher side which should be less. otherwise car is perfect with 5/5 remarks” .

Passenger 5. Missing features.

“Very good performance of engine and exterior is stunning but interior is very compromised and features are also as well it should be upgraded by now because of competitors and people demand” .

So. Mixed. Some love. Some accept. Some compare and feel short.

The Resale. King Kyon Hai?

Bhai, resale is the real reason people buy Grande.

In Pakistan, Toyota brand is trusted . Buyers know Grande will not break. Parts are available. So used market demand is always high.

Even after 3-4 years, Grande sells for good price. A 2021 model with 84,000 km is still 65-70 lakh . That is only 10-15 lakh less than new. Depreciation? 2-3 lakh per year. Cheap.

One owner wrote: “the legend of Pakistani roads… price is too high… but nowadays as compared to other car prices it is worth paying” .

Another: “Good style, good comfort, and the main point is second name of reliability that’s i prefer toyota” .

So. You buy Grande. You drive for 3 years. You sell. You lose maybe 8-10 lakh. That is less than what you lose on a Civic or Elantra.

But bhai. If you are buying Grande only for resale, think. You are paying 80 lakh now. Losing 8 lakh later. You still spent 72 lakh to drive a car for 3 years. That is 2 lakh per month. In a Corolla.

So. Is resale worth the premium? Depends on how you see it.

The Alternatives. Kya Le Sakte Ho Is Price Mein?

For 80 lakh, you have options.

Honda Civic 1.8L. Similar price. More features? Rear AC vents. Better infotainment. But resale lower. AC evaporator issues.

Hyundai Elantra. Spaceship looks. Air-conditioned seats. Panoramic sunroof. More features. But resale lower. Parts expensive.

Kia Sportage (used). Crossover. Higher ground clearance. Spacious. But fuel average worse.

Toyota Corolla Altis 1.6. Save 10-15 lakh. Same body. Smaller engine. Fewer features. Same resale value? Almost.

One passenger said: “I am owner of altis special edition but it’s better than grande” . Special Edition has sunroof but 1.6L engine.

So. You have choices. Grande is not the only option.

The Bottom Line. Is It Worth the Premium?

Bhai. Depends on you.

Buy Grande if:

  • You have 80 lakh in your pocket (not loan)
  • You care about resale value
  • You want a trouble-free car
  • You don’t care about missing features (rear AC vents, latest tech)
  • You want that “status” feeling
  • You plan to keep car for 2-3 years then sell

Don’t buy Grande if:

  • You are stretching your budget
  • You want modern features
  • You care about fuel average
  • You want rear AC vents
  • You plan to keep car for 5+ years (resale advantage decreases)
  • You are buying on high-interest loan

One owner said: “Grande is the best car it’s fuel economy is best grande is better than civic but value of money not better” .

Another: “Value to money to some extent… interior is very compromised and features are also as well it should be upgraded” .

My take (driver’s honest opinion).

Bhai. Grande is a good car. Reliable. Powerful. Comfortable. Resale is excellent.

But is it worth 80 lakh? For some, yes. For others, no.

If you have money and want peace of mind, buy Grande. You will not regret. The car will not break. You will sell it easily.

If you are stretching your budget, buy Altis 1.6 Special Edition. Sunroof bhi hai. 1.6L engine hai. 10-15 lakh bachao. Almost same resale.

If you want features, buy Elantra or Civic. More modern. But resale lower. Maintenance higher.

One passenger told me: “Bhai, Grande le li. Ab lagta hai zyada de diye. Gaari achi hai lekin 80 lakh ki nahi lagti.”

Another passenger: “Grande le. Dil se le. Dimag se mat le. Dimag hota to Corolla 1.6 leta.”

So.

Bookmark this page. Jab Grande lene ka man kare, yaad rakhna. Price 80 lakh. Resale achi hai. Features missing hain. Engine powerful hai. Reliability hai. Apni priority dekho. Phir faisla karo.
