Changan Oshan X5 The Sporty Coupe SUV That No One Bought
Changan Oshan X5. You see one on the road? Once in a blue moon. Maybe twice. Then you forget.
Coupe styling. Sporty looks. Aggressive front. Sloping roof. Like those expensive German coupe SUVs. BMW X4. Mercedes GLC Coupe. But bhai, yeh Changan hai. Chinese. And price? Around 7.6 million . 7.6 million for a “coupe” SUV. Sportage? 9 million. Oshan X7? 9.3 million . H6? 9 million. Toh X5 is cheaper. Thora.
Phir bhi, koi nahi leta.
Kyun?
Mein ne research ki. Owners se poocha. Forums parhay. Specs check kiye. Gari.pk aur PakWheels pe raat jagay.
Yeh hai sach. Ganda sach. Messy sach.
*(Disclaimer: Bhai, main driver hoon. Car dealer nahi. Ye prices May-June 2026 ki hain. Ex-factory 7.66 million hai . On-road Peshawar mein filer ke liye 7.98 million. Non-filer 8.29 million . Apni city ka tax alag. Apni research karo.)*

The Price. Bhai, Kitne Ki Hai?
Pehle price samajh lein.
On-road Peshawar (filer): PKR 7,987,720 .
On-road Peshawar (non-filer): PKR 8,299,120 .
Used? Starting from 7.66 million. Depends on year, mileage, condition .
Compare with rivals:
- Oshan X7: 9.3 million . X5 is 1.7 million cheaper.
- Kia Sportage: 9 million+. X5 is 1.4 million cheaper.
- Haval H6: 9 million+. X5 is 1.4 million cheaper.
- MG HS: 9 million+. Similar difference.
Toh X5 is “budget” coupe SUV. Entry price kam hai. But bhai, sasta hai. Par koi nahi leta. Kyun?
The Looks. Bhai, Sporty Hai.
Pehle positive baat karte hain.
X5 looks sporty. Coupe roofline hai. Front grille aggressive hai. Headlights sharp hain. Side se dekho? Sloping roof gives it that “coupe” vibe. Rivals se different hai. Unique hai.
One forum user asked about steering response. Expert said: “The steering is light and responsive, which is good for urban driving” . Light steering. City mein easy.
But bhai, looks ke chakkar mein compromise karna parega. Coupe roof ka matlab? Rear seat mein headroom kam hai. Cargo space bhi kam hai. Coupe SUVs ki yahi problem hai. Gora ilaqa hai. X5 mein bhi yahi hai.
Toh agar aap family wale ho, bache hain, parents hain? Coupe SUV practical nahi hai. Sedan lo. Ya normal SUV lo. X7 lo. X5 mat lo.
Yahi reason hai. Log coupe SUVs Pakistan mein nahi lete. Unpractical. Family ke liye space kam hai. Brand bhi Chinese hai. Toh double whammy.
The Problems. Bhai, Issues Hain.
Yeh wala part owners ko rota hai. Search results se pata chalta hai.
Issue #1: Spare Parts Availability.
PakWheels ne direct likha hai: “What we don’t like – Lack of Spare Parts, Expensive Maintenance” .
Bhai, yeh bara issue hai. Changan X5 aam nahi hai. Parts har gali mein nahi milte. Dealership pe jao. Mangwao. Wait karo. Time lage ga. Customer galiyan de ga.
Issue #2: Fuel Average. 8-9 km/l.
Search result confirms: “Most users report an average of 8–9 km/l, which is below the claimed figures” .
Kyun? Gaari bhaari hai. 1,500 kg se zyada weight . Turbocharged engine hai. City traffic mein 8-9 deti hai. Highway pe thora better. 10-12.
Petrol 280+ ka hai. Math karo. 8 km/l. Rozana 20 km drive. 2.5 liter petrol per day. 700 rupees. Monthly 21,000. Sirf petrol.
Bhai, yeh coupe SUV hai. Sporty hai. Light nahi hai. Bhaari hai. Toh petrol piyegi. Accept karo.
Issue #3: Suspension and Ground Clearance.
Users in rural areas like Balochistan or KPK report occasional underbody scraping, especially when car is fully loaded .
Expert wrote: “The suspension is tuned more for comfort than off-road ruggedness, so thudding noises over speed breakers or potholes are sometimes noticed” .
Islamabad ki roads? Potholes. Speed breakers. X5 loaded ho, 4-5 log baithein? Scrape. Thud. Aawaz. Annoying.
Coupe SUV hai. Low slung hai. Ground clearance kam hai. Off-road ke liye nahi hai. City ke liye hai. Phir bhi speed breaker pe dhyaan rakhna pare ga.
Issue #4: Acceleration. Thori sluggish.
Expert wrote: “Yes, the heavy kerb weight over 1,500 kg slightly affects initial acceleration, especially in stop-and-go traffic” .
1.5 liter turbo engine. 1500 kg+ gaari. Traffic light se green? Thora time lage ga. Phir turbo spool ho. Phir power aaye. City driving mein annoying ho sakta hai.
Issue #5: Resale Value. Weak hai.
Bhai, yeh wala part sab se painful hai.
Automark Magazine ke mutabiq, new entrants like Changan have a “steeper depreciation curve until the brand’s resale market matures” .
Popular factors affecting resale: brand reputation, market demand, parts availability, fuel efficiency .
X5 fails on multiple counts:
- Brand reputation: Changan is new. Trust nahi hai.
- Market demand: Coupe SUV unpopular. Log nahi le rahe. Toh bechna mushkil.
- Parts availability: Issue hai.
- Fuel efficiency: 8-9. Kam hai.
Expert wrote: “Newer cars typically have higher resale values, but they also lose 15-25% of their value annually in the first few years. If you buy a car from a new entrant, be prepared for a steeper depreciation curve” .
15-25% loss first year. For a Chinese coupe SUV? Zyada loss hoga. 20-30% easily. 7.66 million ki gaari. First year mein 1.5-2.3 million loss.
Bhai, loss hai. Bara loss.
Issue #6: High-speed stability.
Expert noted: “some users feel its slightly over-assisted at high speeds, making it a bit sensitive on motorways” .
Light steering is good for city. Highway pe 120-140 ki speed pe? Thora sensitive lagta hai. Steering thora loose feel hota hai. Confidence kam hota hai.
Resale Value. Kitna Loss Hoga?
Let me break down.
First year depreciation: 20-25% . 1.5-2 million loss. Value around 5.5-6 million.
Second year: another 10-15%. Value around 4.5-5.5 million.
Third year: another 10%. Value around 4-5 million.
Compare with Sportage:
Sportage new: 9 million. First year depreciation: 10-15%. 1.2-1.4 million loss. Value around 7.6-7.8 million.
Sportage resale stronger. Market demand zyada. Parts available. Brand trust hai.
X5 weak. Coupe SUV. Chinese. Parts issues. Fuel average low.
Buyer will ask: “Bhai, yeh X5 hai. Sportage kyun nahi le loon? Thora paise aur laga do?”
Aur woh sahi bole ga.
Real forum question about steering and driveability . Owners concerned. Resellers bhi concerned honge.
What No One Tells You. The Coupe SUV Segment.
Bhai, Pakistan mein coupe SUVs kabhi successful nahi rahe.
Log practical gaariyan lete hain. Space chahiye. Family chahiye. Ground clearance chahiye. Parts chahiye. Resale chahiye.
Coupe SUV sacrifices space for style. Rear seat headroom kam. Cargo space kam. Roof sloped hai, isliye pichay samaan nahi aata.
X5 mein yahi problem hai. Looks sporty hai. Driving dynamics? Acceptable. Space? Compromised.
Is price mein log Oshan X7 le rahe hain. X7 has 7 seats. Rear AC vents. More space. Practical.
Yaa Kia Sportage le rahe hain. Resale better. Parts available. Trust hai.
Yaa Toyota Corolla Cross le rahe hain. Hybrid hai. Fuel average 18-20.
X5 kiske liye hai? Young single professionals. Couples. No kids. Second car for fun. Logo ko woh buyer nahi mil raha.
Pakistan mein young single professionals? Cars le rahe hain. But Civic, Elantra le rahe hain. Or used BMW, Audi. X5 nahi le rahe. Kyunke X5 mein “status” nahi hai. Chinese hai.
Owner Reviews. Kya Kehte Hain?
Search results se direct reviews nahi mile. But forum questions se pata chalta hai.
Users concerned about:
Ek owner ne pucha: “Do you feel the Changan X5’s steering response is too delayed or overly sensitive?”
Dusre ne pucha: “Are there any suspension or ground clearance issues on bumpy or rural roads?”
Teesre ne pucha: “Is the kerb weight affecting acceleration or fuel economy?”
Yeh questions show concern. People are curious. But buying? No.
Expert opinion: “the fuel consumption increases in urban conditions. Most users report an average of 8–9 km/l” . “suspension is tuned more for comfort than off-road ruggedness, so thudding noises over speed breakers are sometimes noticed” .
So. Gaari chal to jaati hai. Lekin perfect nahi hai.
How It Compares to Rivals.
X5 vs Oshan X7.
X7 9.3 million. 1.7 million zyada. X7 has 7 seats. Rear AC vents. More practical. X5 has coupe looks. Sportier. X7 sells more. X5 collects dust.
X5 vs Kia Sportage.
Sportage 9 million. 1.4 million zyada. Sportage resale stronger. Parts available. Brand trust. X5 cheaper but riskier.
X5 vs Haval H6.
H6 9 million+. Similar price difference. H6 HEV fuel average 15-18. X5 8-9. H6 practical SUV. X5 coupe. H6 sells more.
X5 vs MG HS.
MG HS similar price. More established. Resale better. X5 loses.
So. X5 ki koi USP nahi hai. Sirf coupe looks. Woh bhi compromise ke saath.
The Bottom Line. Kyun Nahi Biki?
Bhai, X5 nahi biki kyunke:
- Coupe SUVs not popular in Pakistan. Log practical gaariyan lete hain. Space chahiye. X5 space compromise hai .
- Parts availability issue. PakWheels ne direct likha hai: “Lack of Spare Parts” . Log dar jaate hain.
- Expensive maintenance. Same source: “Expensive Maintenance” . Chinese car hai. Parts mehngay hain. Service bhi.
- Fuel average 8-9 km/l. Petrol 280+ ka hai. Daily drive ke liye costly hai .
- Resale weak. New entrant hai. Depreciation curve steep hai . Coupe SUV demand nahi. Bechna mushkil.
- No brand trust. Changan is new. Toyota, Honda, Kia ne market capture kar li. X5 ke liye jagah nahi hai.
- Price is awkward. 7.6 million. Sportage 9 million. Thora aur laga do, better car milti hai.
Buy X5 if:
- Aap young single ho, family nahi hai
- Coupe looks pasand hai, practical compromise kar sakte ho
- Aap second car le rahe ho (daily driver alag hai)
- 2-3 saal rakhni hai, resale ka tension nahi
- Aap mechanical issues handle kar sakte ho
- Aap unique gaari chahte ho (kyunke koi nahi le raha)
Don’t buy X5 if:
- Family hai, bache hain, parents hain (space chahiye)
- Daily drive karte ho, fuel average matter karta hai (8-9 will hurt)
- Resale value matter karti hai (loss hoga)
- Parts availability ka dar hai
- Peace of mind chahiye
My honest driver opinion.
Bhai, X5 achi gaari hai. Looks sporty. Drives decent. Price kam hai. Lekin bhai, Pakistan mein coupe SUV ka market nahi hai. Log space chahte hain. Practical chahte hain. Resale chahte hain.
Changan ne socha “Coupe SUV le ao, kuch log lein gay.” Lekin woh log nahi aaye.
Agar aap unique chahte ho, risk le sakte ho, extra gaari hai? X5 le lo. Maaza ayega. Log dekhenge. “Woh kya hai?” poochain gay. Aap bolna “Changan X5.”
Agar aap practical ho, family hai, budget tight hai? X7 le lo. Sportage le lo. H6 le lo. Yaa Corolla le kar sukoon karo.
One forum user summed up indirectly: Questions puch rahe hain. But buying? No . That’s the story of X5. Curiosity hai. Demand nahi.
Bookmark this page. Jab X5 dekhne jao, fuel average check karo. Parts availability poocho. Ground clearance check karo. Loaded condition mein test drive karo. Speed breaker pe suspension noise suno. Phir faisla karo.
Aur agar le lo toh workshop ka number saved rakhna. Aap ko zaroorat pare gi.

P.P.S. — Not a mechanic. Not a dealer. Oshan X5 is a sporty coupe SUV. Looks good. But Pakistan ka market practical gaariyan maangta hai. Apni priority dekho. Phir faisla karo. Aur coupe SUV le rahe ho toh space compromise ke liye tayar raho.
