Toyota Yaris vs Honda City 2026 Which One Is Cheaper to Maintain Real Parts Prices

Yeh sawaal hai. Yaris ya City. Dono achi hain. Dono reliable hain. Dono ki resale achi hai. But jab baat aati hai maintenance ki — oil change, brake pads, filters, AC, suspension — tab farq aata hai.

Main driver hoon. I don’t own both. But I pick up passengers. They tell me. I ask mechanics. I search online. So here is the real comparison. Based on real prices from 2026. Not showroom baatein. Real duniya.

*(Disclaimer: Bhai, main driver hoon. Car dealer nahi. Prices yeh hain based on online listings and passenger stories. May-June 2026 ki baat hai. Local workshops ke rates change hotay rehtay hain. Always get written estimate. Apni aankhon se dekhna.)*

Part Prices. Real Numbers. Let’s compare.

Mein ne part prices dekhe. Two sources. Yaris ke liye online store pe rates hain . City ke liye bhi. Let’s put side by side.

Oil Filter.

Yaris ka oil filter. Rs. 1,250 . City ka? Pakwheels pe dekha. Local market mein 1,500-2,000 . Almost same. No big difference.

Engine Oil? Not listed but same. 3-4 liters. Good quality oil 1,800-2,500. Dono mein same.

Air Filter.

Yaris ka air filter. Rs. 2,250 . City ka? Not exact. But typically 1,500-2,500. Same range.

Cabin AC Filter.

Yaris ka cabin AC filter. Rs. 1,450 . City ka? Around 1,500-2,000 . Same.

Brake Pads (Front).

Yaris ke front brake pads. Rs. 8,850 . City ke? Pakwheels pe 4,000-6,000 for local . But original Honda? 8,000-10,000. So.

Yaris original pads 8,850. City original around 8,000-10,000. Almost same.

Brake Shoes (Rear).

Yaris ke rear brake shoes. Rs. 8,650 . City ke rear drums? Not exact. But typically 6,000-8,000.

So brakes mein dono almost same. No winner.

Wiper Blades.

Yaris wiper blades (2 pieces). Rs. 2,650 . City wipers? 2,000-3,000. Same.

Wheel Hub Cap.

Yaris hub cap. Rs. 3,298 . City hub cap? Similar.

Engine Shield.

City engine shield. 2,000 rupees . Yaris? Probably similar.

Verdict on parts prices. Same. Almost identical. Because both are Japanese. Both mass produced. Both have local suppliers. So no big difference in parts.

Service Costs. Dealer vs Local.

But bhai. Service cost mein difference hai. Dealer par.

Honda City at dealer.

Gari.pk pe data hai . First service (3,000 km or 3 months): Free. But parts? Oil filter etc. Dealer charges 20,000 for something. Local workshop 12,000-15,000 .

Second service (12,000 km or 5 months): Free. Dealer charges 35,000. Local 31,500-33,000 .

Third service (11,000 km or 9 months): Paid. Dealer charges 3,000. Local 2,000-3,000 .

But bhai, yeh numbers confusing hain. Kuch zyada lag rahay hain. Maybe including parts. Point is: Dealer service expensive hai. Local workshop sasta.

Toyota Yaris at dealer.

Exact service schedule nahi mila. But same story. Dealer zyada leta hai. Local kam.

Big difference? Interior maintenance.

City ke interior maintenance costs. Gari.pk pe kuch numbers hain . Lekin bhai, yeh numbers galat lag rahay hain. 5 lakh to 7.75 lakh for center console?  That can’t be right. Maybe typo. Ignore.

Actually, interior parts: seats, dashboard, speedometer. City mein digital speedometer 10,000-20,000 . Yaris mein similar.

So ignore the crazy numbers. Real world mein dono similar.

What Passengers Say (Real Stories).

Mein ne passengers se poocha. Jo Yaris chalatay hain. Jo City chalatay hain.

Yaris passenger. 2022 model. 50,000 km driven.

“Bhai, Yaris achi gari hai. Engine smooth. AC acha. Parts easily mil jatay hain. Oil change 5,000-6,000 hota hai. Ab tak koi major issue nahi aya. Sirf brake pads change karwae 10,000 mein. Bus.”

City passenger. 2021 model. 40,000 km driven.

“Mohsin bhai, City mein power hai. Yaris se zyada. Lekin suspension? Hard hai. Potholes pe dard hota hai. Maintenance? Abhi tak 2-3 services karwai hain. Dealer se 15,000-20,000 lagtay hain. Local se 8,000-10,000.”

Another Yaris passenger. 2024 model. 25,000 km.

“Bhai, Yaris thori underpowered hai. City se kam. Lekin comfortable hai. Suspension soft hai. Parts? Oil filter 1,200-1,500 ka. Brake pads 8,000-9,000. Same hai.”

Another City passenger. 2023 model. 30,000 km.

“City le kar pachtaya? Nahi. Power achi hai. Look achi hai. Lekin service thori mehngi hai dealer pe. Isliye local workshop jata hoon. Half price.”

Common Problems. Yaris vs City.

Yaris common issues (from search result) .

  • Warning bongs. Beeping sounds. Lane assist warning. Ajeeb hai. But you get used.
  • Seatbelt area rattle. Annoying.
  • 12V battery drain issues in older models. Fixed in 2026.
  • Some models with loose steering or vibration. Not common.

City common issues (from passengers and earlier article).

  • Suspension hard. Every passenger complains.
  • AC evaporator fails. 30,000-40,000 repair.
  • Steering rack noise. 20,000-30,000.
  • CVT issues if not maintained. Fluid change 6,000-8,000.
  • Ground clearance low. Scrapes.

So. Yaris has electronic annoyances. City has mechanical/comfort issues.

Which one is cheaper to maintain?

The Math. Total Cost Over 5 Years.

Let me try. Approximate. For 50,000 km. 5 years.

Yaris.

  • Oil changes (10 times, 5,000 km each). 5,000 each. Total 50,000.
  • Brake pads (once). 10,000.
  • Air/Cabin filters (every 10,000 km). 2,000 each x 5 = 10,000.
  • Tires (once). 40,000 set.
  • Suspension (minor, once). 15,000.
  • Miscellaneous (bulbs, wipers, etc). 10,000.

Total approx: 1,35,000 over 5 years.

City.

  • Oil changes (10 times). 5,000 each. 50,000.
  • Brake pads. 10,000.
  • Filters. 10,000.
  • Tires. 40,000.
  • Suspension (often needs work). 25,000-30,000.
  • AC evaporator (possible). 35,000.
  • CVT fluid change (once). 8,000.
  • Miscellaneous. 10,000.

Total approx: 1,90,000 – 2,00,000.

Not scientific. Not exact. But direction clear.

City has more potential expensive repairs. Suspension. AC. CVT.

Yaris has fewer major issues. Just annoying beeps.

The Bottom Line (Driver’s Honest Take).

Bhai.

If you want cheaper maintenance? Yaris. Slightly. Because fewer major issues. But parts prices almost same.

If you want power and fun driving? City. But be ready for harder suspension and potential AC/steering repairs.

Real passenger said: “Bhai, Yaris le lo. City mein maza hai lekin maintenance ka dar rehta hai. Yaris mein sukoon hai.”

Another passenger said: “Bhai, City le lo. 5-6 lakh extra de kar power lo. Yaris thandi hai. Bejaan.”

So. Your choice.

Yaris pros: Reliable. Comfortable suspension. Fewer major issues. But underpowered. Warning bongs.

City pros: Powerful. Fun to drive. Better looks. But harder ride. AC issues. Ground clearance low.

Maintenance costs? Dono similar. But City mein occasional bara kharcha ho sakta hai. AC. Steering. Suspension.

So if I was buying? Main driver hoon. I drive 8-10 hours daily. I need comfort. I need reliability. I would buy Yaris. Lekin agar main young hoon, power chahiye, gaari chalani hai mazay se? City.

Bookmark this page. Jab Yaris aur City compare kar rahe ho, yaad rakhna. Parts prices almost same. Service costs same. But City mein potential bara kharcha. Yaris mein chota kharcha but chota engine.
